Bets and Boom Boxes

"Conditions of thought, memory, and desire, persuaded by impulse and irrationality, are influenced as well by personal aesthetics and private meanings."
— Kay Redfield Jamison

~
ProcrastinEating-
The consumption of food undertaken to avoid a dull or arduous task, irrespective of hunger levels or the time of day.

Mark: Man, this History paper's taking me forever...I could go for some Guacamole and Spicy Salsa dip on crackers...
John: Dude, you ate lunch half an hour ago. Quit ProcrastinEating and get back into it!  ~

Story of my life.

There are no outrageous pants to entertain me tonight.

For the first time, so far, I’m mildly disappointed.

Set no expectations.

"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."
— Neil Gaiman

You learn what it’s like for someone to see the worst sides of you, the ones that you even hide from yourself. They become the first person you call when you get a job or decide to go to therapy or when a boy starts messing with your mind. They start to understand your hidden meanings and subtle hints at how you are feeling when you don’t want or can’t admit it.

"Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe."
— Neil Gaiman

I just drew a Boom Box for an assistive technology presentation. Naturally.
Im glad Im paying for stuff I already know.

I was little I use to make bets with myself. For example, I would be walking down the road and I would hear a car coming…I would find a point of interest and think to myself “If I make it to that tree before the car passes me, then good things will happen.” I still catch myself doing this as an adult.

"Recounting the strange is like telling one's dreams: one can communicate the events of a dream, but not the emotional content, the way that a dream can colour one's entire day."
— Neil Gaiman (Fragile Things)
